Jeffrey [Curtis's Bot. Mag. 182 (1978) 32] rejected Watson's choice of type, partly on the grounds that it conflicted with the protologue (it does not show 'fol. omnibus cordatis' according to Jeffrey, pers. comm., Oct 1992). However, he rejected 1024.1 LINN in favour of 'Corona solis I' of Tabernaemontanus [Eicones Pl. (1590) 763, t.], which did not form part of the protologue. This later choice is therefore in conflict with Art. 9.17(b), and Watson's choice stands. This does not appear to cause any nomenclatural difficulties (Linnaean Plant Names, May 21, 2003].
